Who can apply?
Belfast Works Connect has been created to help those who are not in full time employment or full time education living in the following council areas: Mid & East Antrim, Antrim & Newtownabbey, Lisburn & Castlereagh, Ards & North Down, Causeway Coast & Glens, Newry & Mourne and Belfast. Since we began in March 2023, we have secured meaningful, long term employment for people from many walks of life including:
- Carers who want to transition into employment
- Those with disabilities or health conditions that have previously been a barrier to employment
- Recently retired but wanting to return to work
- School Leavers
- Mums returning to or entering the workforce
- Ethnic minorities who have recently settled into our community and need assistance transferring qualifications obtained outside Northern Ireland, learning English and establishing networks in their new home
- Those finding themselves unexpectedly out of work and wanting to assess career path

Belfast Works Connect is an innovative employability project aimed at supporting individuals who face challenges to employment, and is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The project is delivered by an area-based partnership consisting of 5 charitable community organisations based throughout the Greater Belfast area.
The partnership is led by Upper Springfield Development Trust (West) and includes four delivery partners across distinct parts of Belfast:
- Ashton Community Trust (North)
- East Belfast Mission (East)
- GEMSNI (South)
- Impact Training, Job Assist (Shankill)
